An on-premises solution is a usage model for software where applications or services are operated locally in the company. The required servers or data centers are located on site. This usually requires additional IT resources for maintenance, updates, and security. Companies using an on-premises solution have full control over their data and infrastructure. The opposite of on-premises models are IT solutions that are hosted in the cloud.
