Shop Floor Terminal – Smart Factory Glossary
The term shop floor terminal describes an input device used by operators in the shop floor to enter or edit data in a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) such as HYDRA X. The shop floor terminal includes hardware and software.
- Hardware can be an MES terminal or industrial computer including connected equipment such as bar code scanner, ID reader, or printer.
- Software enables to collect data at machines or workplaces, and to display information from the MES. The user interface can be configured specifically. Therefore, the machine fitter, the operator, and any other employee gets the information displayed that they require for their work.
