Manufacturing Cockpit – Smart Factory Glossary
A Manufacturing Cockpit is a user interface where real-time data and KPIs from manufacturing and related areas are presented in a clear and concise way. The application displays data from systems such as a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, or a Warehouse Management System (WMS). The Manufacturing Cockpit also provides the option of displaying information from individual systems as a combined view. By correlating the data, the user obtains an overview of the overall production.
What are the outstanding features of a Manufacturing Cockpit?
- An MES system collects data and plans production routines, whereas the Manufacturing Cockpit evaluates and visualizes data.
- The tool is able to assess data from different sites and integrates data from other systems.
- If the Manufacturing Cockpit is used in combination with an archive database, the tool can analyze the complete data history – even if the data had been moved earlier from the productive MES to the archive.
- Employees and management are fully informed at all times: each user can create their own cockpit and compile data in which they are especially interested. For example, users can see the development of setup times or compare different sites – everything is possible!
Manufacturing Cockpit in MES HYDRA X
In HYDRA X, the up-to-date version of the MES by MPDV, KPIs are processed in a wide range of manufacturing apps (mApps). For this purpose, data from the Machine data collection and the Shop floor data collection are deployed. Depending on the functional scope in use, information such as the machine status or OEE is visualized in a dashboard on the HYDRA X start page.
